Hey, it's me again! First off, I'd like to thank everyone on these boards. You've been such a great help and I don't know what I'd do without you. Now on to the question. When making clothing similar to this http://newtek.com/products/lightwave/images/lw8/LW8_003.jpg would you have the clothes be affected by bones or not? This is my first attempt at clothing so any tips or tutorials you give would be greatly appriciated. Thanks again!

P.S. I checked out http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutorials/Main_Menu.htm but couldn't find any clothing tutorials

MacDaddyKash, check out my latest character: http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19227 She's a clothing rigging nightmare. I haven't rigged her yet but the big problem will be the trenchcoat. I made it purposefully, almost ridiculously long so that it would blow dramatically in the wind. I probably will use bones to control the sleeves and upper part of the trenchcoat but the bottom half I will use cloth dynamics. I will also probably add bones into the coat so I can have complete control over the way the coat moves. The pants will just move along with the leg bones. For some wrinkle movements, I will use smartskinning (morphs).
Looking at the ninja characters there by Proton, I imagine most of the cloth could be controlled by bones with perhaps just some of it being controlled by dynamics. Here's a good tutorial on setting up cloth to work with a character:

It doesnt matter if you have the clothing effected by bones or not. Motion Designer will override them.

Not if you give them different surfaces.

Just look at the way Lukasz prepared his surfaces in th links above.

Also, I was under the impression that dynamics can respond to weightmaps in LW8.
