I tried the DF 4.0 demo and played with the tracking tools. The motion file that i then tried to import to LW 7.5 didnīt work, or rather LW hang itself every time i tried to open it.

It seems that the motion file is in the old 5.6 .mot format. Could that be the problem?

any suggestions?

I've got the same problem. In fact the .mot format exported by Fusion is very different from the .mot used by Lightwave (v 7.5b)
I sent this concern to DF tech support yesterday.

This is the answer I've got from Eyeon:

Hello,

After speaking to our developers about the problems you are having and they provided the following explanation as to what might be causing the problems you are seeing.

Digital Fusion will export LW MOT files under the LW 6 formatting only. This has never been an issue as versions of LW after 6 still supported the import of MOT files from previous versions without any problems. However, the MOT files that LW produces have changed since version 6, this is why the two files look different to you. (I assume you are running LW 7 or higher?)

Do you know if the version of LW you are running has the capability of importing older MOT versions disabled? This would definitely cause headaches to the LW program if this functionality had been removed in the version you are using and you are trying to load the version of MOTs that DF is providing.

Iīm no expert in file formats, but I thought LW 6 changed the fileformat for scenes and motion description completelly from v.5.6. Isnīt LW 7+ using the same new fileformat structure? There doesnīt seem to be a way to import older motion files into LW7+ other than File/Load/Load motion file.

If there was a option to import older format, a plugin or script I would be glad to know. searched Flay but didnīt find anything.

I also searched for description of LW motion format and found one of 5.6. That formatting looked to me as the one DF produced, so therefore I assumed DF wrote in the 5.6 format.

I hope there is a smooth solution to be found as DF looks like a nice compositor.javascript:smilie(':)')
