View Full Version : aligning vehicle to hilly terain

Hi there, I have made little town and the roads have hills.
I have also made a simple cartoon-like 3 wheel car.
The car model is in 4 layers, the body and a layer for each wheel, the body being the parent layer.

I find aligning the car to the road a fairly difficult task. Either it floats off the ground or the wheels go though it.

Is this something I should try and approach with motion designer?

I have tried creating paths for alignment with limited sucess.

If anyone has any advice that might be able to help me out I'd be greatly appreciative.

The Worms of Art have a tutorial on the NewTek Europe Community section that illustrates how to create a landscape with a vehicle traveling down a road.

BTW -- Worms of Art has produced a great set of surface libraries.

another thing you can do that will take some labor out of the process is use a displacement map for your landscape, then use the same map to control the Y motion of the vehicle(textured motion)... you may still have to fiddle with the rotations... but this should help a bit.
