Ok.. just built my new PC.

I want to get to a toaster soon.. but I need to know if my PC needs to be upgraded further.. or if I can get the toaster before upgrading.

Here are my current specs:

Mobo:
ASUS E7505 Chipset Server Motherboard for Dual Intel Xeon CPU, Model "PP-DLW"

CPU:
1 Intel Xeon DP 2.8 GHz 533MHz FSB, 512K Cache, Hyper Threading Technology

Ram:
1 Transcend 184 Pin 512MB PC-2100 ECC Registered with Mosel Chipset Memory Module

SCSI Card:
Adaptec 64-bit PCI to SCSI Controller Card, Model "Adaptec SCSI Card 29160"

HD's:
2 SCSI 73GB 10,000 RPM Cheetas

Ok.. I know I need more HD.. but with those specs would I be able to add a toaster? Or would I need to wait till I got my second Xeon and another 512MB Stick of RAM?

Thanks!

Good to see the Beck name around VTville. Remember you from some older blue box days.

Yes that would be an adequate setup for your start in toasting video.

Give me a shout if you need a hookup on a decent price for a VT card and software.

Welcome aboard!!

Well hello Michael/Ted. It's the original Ted here. Drop me an e-mail and say howdy.
Welcome aboard!

Are you and your family going to NAB?

Your system is a good start, but the uncompressed .rtv file size is Waaaayyy bigger then what we were used to with wavelet compression.
I just added another terabyte of video storage to go with my two other video arrays.

I think you'll love the VT system and NewTek!!!
