Hey y'all,

I have to animate a ribbon weaving in and out of a bunch of buildings (video) I was going to animate the ribbon by moving a flat, subdivided box along a path, and having the PATH deform the box as it curves etc. This used to be really simple in softimage, but how do you do it in LW 7.5c? Thanks!!

then you may want to check here;

thanks! That's quite a bit more involved than I'd hoped...I found something that I think will work FI's Bezier_Bend plugin but, documentation is sparse, as is my time to experiment....has anyone made any bezier bend tutorials or workflow walkthroughs?

thanks!

I guess more specifically with the bezierBend plug, how does he go from a spline path in modeller, to a series of nulls, placed where the points of the spline were? Or rather, how does the spline path in modeller come into play?

thanks!

Have you tried the serpent plugin that comes with LightWave? (Object Properties/Deform/Add Displacement)

You dont create teh spline in modeler. Its created in layout when you run the plugin. Another one I would recommend using is Shift Spline Transform. You can do some pretty interesting things with it including having multiple instances on the same object.
Check out this experimental face rig I did using splines HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/examples/sst_face_rig.mov)

I also did this with it:
