How does one get the plug-ins in layout and modeller to remain persistent, across different user sessions?.

When we log out, LW resets and we have to scan for plug-ins again.

why do you think its a permissions issue?

In the Lightwave Application Folder, create a folder called "Configs"
Logged in as an administrator, configure lightwave the way you want. Quit (make sure it doesn't crash), relaunch to make sure it's keepng your configs. If it is, go to the ~/Library/Preferences (your admin user folder) and move all the lightwave-related preferences to that Configs folder. Then open the Lightwave, Modeler and Hub cmdline files, and make sure they are pointing at the configs folder (-c"Macintosh HD:Applications:Lightwave 3D:Configs:" -d"Macintosh HD:Applications: Lightwave 3D: Configs:").

Re-Launch LW and Modeler to make sure they are keeping your configs, if not check the cmdline paths to make sure you don't have any errors. Once that works, regardless of who logs in, they will use those configs.

and just to save on the typing errors, use this applescript droplet to save the folder path (of the config directory) to the clipboard so all you have to do is paste it in the relevant places

if I was really clever I would extend it to write the cmdline file completely....
