If you wan't to render a movie, what format should be used to get the best quality? Do u use Quicktime (.mov) or .AVI? And if there is no difference who knows a good codec with good quality and good decompression?

Hi,
Go for still frames, for instance Targa if you need alpha layer, then, proceed the frames in whatever soft you want (I use Adobe Premiere or DFX+ _yes, 8 upgrade_, but there are free softs such as virtualdub ,http://www.virtualdub.org/index). Then you can try different codecs without re-rendrering. The choice depends mainly on the final destination of the shot : is it for the web, broadcast, DVD, etc.

I'm a big fan of QuickTime's MPEG4 - great quality and good compression.
