View Full Version : reflecting trasparent texture issues

I'm trying to reflect a tree in a window and it's not working out so well. The problem is that the leaves of the tree are partially transparent (alpha around the leaf shape). They look great normally, but the portion that's supposed to be transparent, isn't so when reflected.

I've tried a number of raytracing combos to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion on this one?

There seems to be a few little bugs when it comes to reflections. One solution to this would be to use a render of the tree as the reflection map for the glass surface. This would also speed up your rendering as well.

Thank you for the suggestion. I must let you know that I had considered that. The only problem (and I'm afraid it's a problem) is that I need the reflection of the window panes in the glass as well - as I'm trying to achieve realism.

thanks again - I need all of the suggestions I can get,

try using a clip map for the leaf instead of transparency. objects>item properties>render. use a bitmap or greyscale.

good luck
