View Full Version : 3dfightclub hosting

not sure if this is slightly off topic, anyway...

I have my web hosted on 3dfightclub.com, from where to download jetto tools. However, link seems not to work anymore, and I can't contact the person who allowed me hosting (his nick was Bones)

I'm asking this because I have received a number of mails in order to get these tools, since link doesn't work.

Please, help!

The servers that the fightclub were on, got hacked not to long ago, and then they moved the fightclub over to new servers.. That seems to be what made things screwy over there for a bit. I think they are getting it worked out slowly..

Did you try sending bones a private message?

02-24-2004, 11:04 AM
Yes, I tried, but seems not to check his PM too often...

Hope I find a solution...

The only other thing I can suggest is to try posting a message in the "3DFC Professional Web Hosting forum" there...

He may be on vacation or something??

The real deal is how do we get jetto bevel? Be looking and can't find it and the fight club site as you mentioned doesn't work. Guess I should have grabbed it when I had the chance. Now I have to wait for 8.

If you're thinking of hosting, these guys are really good. Plus I think they have a special deal going at the moment, where you can get their top-of-the-range plan for half price.

Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/rewards.cgi?suture)

Hosting starts at about US$9.95

But even that is a feature pack plan.
You get a jabber chat server, 24 hr tech support, web based control panel, 500 MB disk storage, 25 GB monthly Bandwidth, 60 POP 3 email accounts, 15 Shell FTP accounts, Web based Email Access @ https//webmail.yourdomain.com your own discussions lists, mailing lists and database, 1 Free Domain name Registration, 15 Subdomains Hosted, 3 Domains fully hosted, unlimited domain forwarding, MySQL database, PHP4, Full Unix Shell, Full CGI, SSI, SSL Secure Server, Daily Access Stats, Banner Free Guestbook, Password protect Directories (.htaccess), RealAudio and Video (http stream), Quicktime Streaming Sever. Plus these guys are continually coming up with new features and enhancements.

There's a lot more stuff in the web admin panel, but anyway take a look.

Yeah as Tspyrison says, one of the servers was hacked. Bones doesn't dome around here often, I've contacted him for you - as soon as he reads his mail, I'm sure he'll contact you ASAP.

And dont worry, just because he is hosting your stuff for free, doesn't mean you'll get any less attention. Bones is proud to be hosting these great plugs and he wouldn't knowingly let you down (or the people using them).

BTW congrats on the 3DWorld mag bit!

I can mail them to you at 20$ (now out of stock, no longer free...). I can't imagine now modeling without jettobevel, hehehe. Just mail me if you're interested. Just kidding about the price, only 0$ until LW8 ships (and after that)

It's great having such a great people's support. Thanks to all.

mmm having to wait until 8? As far as I know, they won't be included in LW8. It would be a great surprise, hehehe

Great frustration for me these days.

Jagoca offers some excellent Plug-Ins which I personally use, almost daily.
I was hoping for a much quicker resolve to my situation and, indirectly, Jagoca's.

It seems all "Index" pages on the server which hosted 3dfightclub.com
were "defaced."
This led my hosts to update my server for me and things apparently have
still not resolved.

For the sake of my own "Public Relations" I would like to mention
"Web Hosting" is something I offer to my own forum members as
I am close to them through my forum and I am then able to assist
them with HTML and other web basics - getting them and their 3D work
on line to show off.

In Jagoca's case - I simply created a "User Account" for him because
he desperately needed some web space and I do enjoy his Plug-Ins
so I thought I would offer web space as opposed to a PayPal donation.

I hope to soon have all the issues with my server resolved.
I am deeply sorry this has happened and I hope everyone will again
be able to access Jagoca's pages and Plug-Ins.

I have sent off a number of emails to my web host and I should hear
from them soon.

***Speak of the .....
Jagoca - I just got an email from my hosts.
I am now able to access your space:
but unfortunately your "index" pages are lost.
Do you have backups of your pages so you can
re-upload them through your FTP?

I actually have to now go in to accounts and assure
Jagoca has a proper FTP password.
Jagoca I will PM you shortly with new FTP information.
All your files are there - but your index pages are missing.
Sorry this is confusing.
I will PM you shortly.

Here is an email I just sent out:

This has begun to severely damage my reputation.
I no longer have answers for my people regarding their User Accounts.
I am starting to look fairly bad in front of thousands of people.
Yes - that's "thousands" and that is not dramatic or over-exaggerated.
One of my Users was mentioned in "3D World" Magazine.
No one can access his pages, example:
or any of the Plug-Ins/services he offers.

Yet another user "Eki" reaches thousands of people through his
own articles, web pages, books, Plug-Ins and forum-going.
This means that thousands more are potentially reading the "bad news"
about 3D Fight Club being hacked.
Everyone gets "hacked" and this is understandable.
But it has now been weeks and still there is no resolve for the people
needing access to User Accounts.

By now I'm guessing there are no backups for everyone's "index" pages.
Replacing Index pages wouldn't be the end of the world for people who
did not back up their own files.
But waiting another 2 weeks for their accounts to resolve isn't really an option.
People will have moved on by then.
I can't maintain my own Public Relations anymore.
Questions are popping up in my forum, my email, my Private Messages,
NewTek Lightwave's forum, 3D World Magazine forum, etc.

The feeling of helplessness is now being overtaken by frustration.
And here is what I have got from them:

The problems with the ~ missing in your user accounts will be fixed shortly (jettocrack has been fixed).

The latest backup of your site also included the 'hacked index pages, so unfortunately these will need to be replaced).

Best regards,

Don't they keep multiple backups, on an hourly, daily and weekly basis?

Hi riki - yes, they have backups.
It's now my understanding that they hastily installed...
How to put this ....

They were hacked - what the hackers did precisely was to replace
every single index file with their own.
In haste to get everything back to normal - the hosts actually
installed back ups of the hacked index files on the new server
and apparently lost previous backups, not realizing each and every
index page was defaced.

What this means - I don't think the hosts realized how deep the hackers went.
So, before the hosts reinstalled backups of major sites
(example: "3dfightclub.com/index.html") they did in fact have proper
backups - however, not realizing how deep the hackers went
(example: "3dfightclub.com/~jettocrack/index.html")
the hosts unwittingly placed backups of the hackers index.html pages
in all my "User Accounts"
and now, those User Accounts no longer have a backup of index.html pages because the hosts have since "backed up the backups" so to speak.

It's a terrible mess and leaves me feeling quite helpless.
Sorry again for all this inconvenience.

I have just uploaded all the needed files back to 3dfightclub.

There's a strange problem with the "Soundtracks" link (which in fact is under construction, for a long while :P), which drives users to the hacker's page. I have reuploaded the index there, but seems not to work. In fact, I have finally deleted it and brazilian page appears, while all the links and so are correct. Really strange...

If these guys are so intelligent and so goods at computers, they should be spending their stupid free time developing interesting tools, like LW plugins (just an arbitrary example :D), and they will learn it can also be a good challenge (perhaps only to me, I'm not so intelligent, sorry...)

Thanks again to all. If previous problem can't be solved I will be removing the url from the main page.
