Does anyone know if a particle emitter can be set to not inherit the emitter's velocity? What I mean is- I have a jet exhaust that looks great when the emitter isn't moving, but looks like crap when the emitter does because the particles go faster and actually go beyond the attractor collision object. They are pushed faster and farther because of the velocity of the emitter.

If anyone has a tip on this I will be very grateful because I have a deadline looming.

Thanks,
Jon

there is an option called Parent Motion in the emitter properties. Set that to zero, and it will not inheirt any motion from the emitter.

Thanks Meaty,

I tried that and it didn't seem to work, but I think you're right that it's what I want. I think my problem is the attractor. I'm trying to get that cone shaped jet exhaust and it looks good with an attractor until it moves.

Any ideas on how to get that cone shape without an attractor collision object?

Thanks again,
Jon

Use a collision effector set to Mode erase just at the point of the jet.

The simpliest way of doing it is by setting up a Null object as target for the emitter. Then you should get the cone shape you're after.
