View Full Version : Point / Straight Align Tool

There's a plugin that does this for UV points but as far as I know not for regular geometry (again if one does exist please let me know!)

Anyway, here's how I'd like it to work (this could also be combined with the other 'point align' tool I posted with a switch to use a BG curve or not)

It sounds exactly like Taut Points (except for the BG curve part), http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=370 . Personally I would like it better if the straight line was defined by first and last point since it enables a quicker selection. But it's super as is.

Snapping tools in general are lacking. I would like to see more of these kind of tools, as at times producing accurate details is required and there not an abundance of native tools in LW to support this.

Fan-bloody-tastic!!!!!!! :)

I knew there would be a plug already to do this!!!!

Taut is _exactly_ how I wanted this to work (all I need now is one that can work with a BG curve!!!!)

Thanks evenflcw! I did check flay.com but there are so many plugins I guess it's easy to miss one!!!

You point-snapping-people should also check out TheDust_Points plug. It has a lot more options than Taut. You can f.ex snap to line, plane, set value based on first or last selected point(s). The only drawback with this plug is it doesn´t remember last used settings...

I am using UV_Tx_Converge from PICTRIX.

All points snap to the first selected on U or V.

There is another one there, UV_Tx_Even, which will evenly space selected points on either "axis" between the first and last selected. Both pretty handy at times.

Matt. The old LW 5.x plugin, Converge points does exactly that. I don't know why Newtek dropped it, since it works perfectly well in LW 7.5. I use it all the time.

You can probably find it in the LW 5.6 upgrade zip at :-

If all else fails, drop me a line at [email protected] & I'll sort you out a copy (unless newtek object of course).

Newtek - put this plugin back into LW please. or at least put it into the ftp plugins dir on your FTP site.
