Assuming you have webspace enough to load up what would be on a demo reel, is the burned CD or DVD form of a demo reel obsolete?

Assuming you can get a potential client to type in your URL is a big assumption. The benefit of a demo reel, IMHO, is that it's easy, and easy is important in getting noticed. How hard is it to drop a VHS or DVD into a player and let it do it's thing, compared to getting your URL in the hands of the person you want, and getting them to type it into their browser? In addition, the packaging of a demo reel (physical) can enhance your visibility and recognition, but the same can't be said for an email or other method of passing your URL to the potential client/employer.

VHS man, VHS....EVERYONE has one and can easily pop it in.
CD, DVD, WEB....codecs, pc/mac, etc...all hassles.
