LW Gurus,

How do I "punch out" the areas inside these letters? This is an EPS logo (AI7).

Have you tried to select those polygons and deleting them?

Sometime that EPS loader is kind of poopy and fills in the holes.

Do a merge points after ;)

Might not solve it but sometimes the obvious is looking us right in the face.

The 'Auto AxisDrill' option in the EPSF Loader Popup will try to automatically drill any required holes in your Text.

What you are looking at is two polys (the main "A" shape poly without a hole, and a triangle poly sitting on top of it).

The easiest way to fix this is to copy the triangle to another layer, and "Drill" it out of the main letter shape.

Sorry I'm not getting this....

I have copied the triangle to another layer, but I keep getting a message saying:

"Unable to regenerate contour.

This may be cause by highly non-planar polygons, or by ambiguous overlap between polygon edges and cutting tool.
Triple non-planar polygons or add a small offset to data and try again."

That sounds like greek to me.

Can someone walk me through this?

Thanks again.

You should try rendering it. Seen stuff like this caused by OpenGL malfunction. The hole might actually be there.

I get this alot from eps files.

What I do is this:

Import logo.

Select the polygons you need to be "punched out" (they will get highlited)

Copy them, then paste them into a new layer.

Extrude them.

Then go an do a boolean on the logo using those extruded polys.

Merge points on logo.

That is usually my solution.

Sometimes I have to flip some polys to get them to face right as well. Once you figure it out, it isnt too hard.

just my 2 cents :)
