Could someone give me a Quick and Dirty explanation of Motion Mixer?

I know what it sounds like it does but how do I animate with it?

Does it mix scenes together or different motions together in the same scene? I read the little booklet but am still confused.

You have a character with the bones nicely rigged.
You animate a walk cycle, and use motion mixer to record one complete step.
You animate a run cycle, and record that, etc.
Then in you paste the recorded bits into motion mixer and repeat, stretch, overlap or whatever.
But you must obviously have the same hierarchy in the model, and untill you've worked out how to select or exclude chanels you'd best stick to exactly the same skeleton.

Motion mixer isnt for creating animations from scratch.
Its used to mix animations that have already been created.

DrFoley - there are curcumstances where you can copy animation from one character to another, for instance if you have some basic walk cycles set up for one character then you can use just the leg bone rotation chanels on another character with a similar skelton, it might no be perfect but it can be very usefull.
