View Full Version : How do I make this shape?

Just wondering what the easiest way to make the following shape would be. Would it be easier to just draw the shape as a texture then apply it to a ring with alpha transparancy?

Or would it be easier to model and then curve? How would I curve it? (absolute noob by the way!).

Also, if I went the alpha texture route, how do I make alpha transparancies?

make a cylinder with a good amount of sides.
Cut off the top and bottom.
Cut out a few sides from the back (making the gap at the back betwen the beginings of the arrows).
Cut out a few sides from the front (making the gap between the points of the two arrows.)
Use the Knife tool on one side to cut into the polys to form the arrow head.
Delete the oposite side and mirror over the one you just created.


(edit) Oh wait its one of those optical illusion ones! heh. too early in the morning.....

In which case load the image into modeler and model it flat with splines or droping and connecting points...
