View Full Version : Why has LW8's interface reverted to earlier style?

Received a Newtek bulletin to check out the comparison of old and new....
Comparison Page (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/product/8/screenshots.php)
and was surprised not by the fact that all the menus had changed (They've done that before just to confuse you) but they appear to have reverted back to the interface style "before" version 7.

I ask... why remove the gradient style interface and go back to the flat look?, (I kind of liked the 7+ look)
Is it an effort to suck every last bit out of ones graphics processor? or have people requested this, maybe easier to read?

The interface was changed for SIGGRAPH as far as I know to emphasise the fact it was a new version.

There have been many threads debating the pros and cons of the 'new look' but ultimately only NewTek know why they chose a style which as you've pointed out is reminiscent of LightWave 5.5.
