Check out this DIVX test for a logo intro (http://www.3DInk.com/shadowpalm2.avi) ...not enough time nor desire for total realism...its just a stinking logo!, but i think im pretty close?

yeah the stills look good (dosent have divX grr) looks OK for a logo whats it for TV

its for HDTV, intro for a spring break show....
logo is gonna be on the last coconut...

Things I like: the "mood" is really good. I like the way the lighting is done, and the rendering is nice. The palm tree models are well done.

Things which might need changing: The dynamics of the scene look off. when the coconut bounces, it doesn't seem to give the appearance of weight or interaction with the sand. When scrubbing throuhg the animation frame by frame, the sand particles appear before the coconut actually touches down. Also, poly edges can be seen on the coconut... maybe subdivide it?

But like you said... it's just a logo... and those points are pretty picky. All in all, it has a very nice look to it. Good job

I like the lighting, the tree, the gentle swaying of the leaves.

The only suggestion I have is that there needs to be more debris on the ground. Usually around palm trees there are fallen, dried up leaves, bark pieces and some other grasses and such. Everything else is great.

Thanks for the compliments!

Id love to tweak this till Im dead, like all of us would like to do with our work...
but Ive run out of time (damn deadlines) so the final is rendering!

...I added some beer bottles, a straw, etc..oh and most importantly, sped up the coconut!
Ill post the final when its done rendering in a week (its HD 1920x1080 res! doh!)

Maybe I will use this as a foundation, Ive learned alot on this one
(using Texture displacement to make the trunks, using Motion Designer to plow the sand!),
and continue to add to it until it is realistic....someday...but for now - on to the next animation!
