hi

Is there a list of "current" tv shows that use lightwave?

we know about past shows such as:

1.dan dare
2.max steel
3.rough necks star ship troopers
4.jimmy neutron

so what's cooking in the cgi oven right now?

also there's a hint or two about a new babylon 5 film or show..anyone got some update on that?

well there is enterprise and i think stargate sg1 is partly done in lightwave and partly in maya not sure about it though

battlestar galactica is done in lightwave - and hm cant think of many more sci fi shows right now =/

on Sci Fi a little while ago was done with LW, or at least partially... and so if it becomes a series, I supect they'll keep using it...

Star Trek uses it too I think.

Andromeda is done by Lost Boys with cough, cough Maya , AFAIK...
Hehe, but maybe LW is their secret weapon, like at so many other studios...
Children of Dune was done completely with LW very recently...
I think Smallville also uses LW...
I dont know which of these are still playing, but you might want to check out this list and scroll down to the TV- series:

I'm working in andromeda's in-house VFX dept. :) We handle most of the shots and we use 100% LW. We send some shots out of house to Lost Boys and Atmosphere.

They have stepped up the look of the show for the end of season 4 and it's looking a lot better. Take a look at this thread on CGtalk where our lead artist posted some newer shots:

here is one of them:

Wasn't Maya used for the 1st two seasons? Yep. The vfx is now looking much better.

I'm not sure what VFX was used for the 1st 2 seasons. Things should only look better and better towards the end of this season. It's a fun show to work on!

It's a bit hard to define a "CGI tv show".

Most have some live action. In fact most TV shows might be definable as a "CGI" tv show if they use some 3D graphics. Does a 3D title make it a CGI tv show? Lots of shows have one or two graphical elements in them. Lots of this is done on Lightwave.

actually i was thinking more on the lines of full cgi characters and sets like jimmy neutron and dan dare...seems that these sort of shows are not in production currently and that the new stuff is coming from the far east rather than from the usa nowdays with the likes of cubix and Zentrix are being done with soft XSi studios

i'm by no means sure but isn't ghost in the shell ( the series) done in lightwave? and isn't it being used in ghost in the shell 2 ( the film)

dont know hwo much of each was done with cgi though
