This is interesting. According to a page on dStorm's website, LW[8] for the mac is being optimised for the G5 processor using Apple's X Code.

Read it here. (http://www.dstorm.co.jp/dssub/20040108.htm)

The article doesn't mention whether LW will be compiled in a 64bit version or not.

You can get yourselves a freaky Japanese to English translation of the web page over here (http://www.excite.co.jp/world/url/) . Enjoy.

Thanks for the link, Jeremy.

You may be interested to know that there's another thread about Xcode in the Mac section of these forums:

As for 64-bit... Apple's current OS is part 64-bit, part 32-bit. At the heart of Apple's OS X is the fully 64-bit BSD UNIX "kernel", which is why the OS itself can see 8 gigs of RAM.

However, not everything in OS X is yet 64-bit. I hope that over the next year or two Apple can transition to a pure 64-bit operating system. To do so may break compatibility with today's programs. I think Apple is making the transition at a rate that software developers can deal with.

Whats interesting is that ewtek did have a lightwave 64 bit started and running when 3 years ago itanium "was" meant to make everything on pc's 64 bit... Well we all know that flopped as well as a 64 bit windows anytime soon.
As soon as oSX goes 64 bit Newtek will have something ready.
