Please post your ANIMATIONS or PICTURES FROM YOUR ANIMATIONS, (preferably the actual animations) I'm working on one so don't worry, i'll throw in my donation ;)

This has been billed as "The best animated gif ever"

It's not mine, or even LW, but very cool

Here comes my two contributions.

The first is a small short I made with animations on filmed video.
http://w1.133.comhem.se/~u13304841/my_256.wmv
Approx download size is 2,6 Meg - wmf-format.

The second is full CG
http://w1.133.comhem.se/~u13304841/QT_190.mov
Approx download size is 4 Meg - Quicktime.

Happy viewing,

OUCH! Good grief. Is the lawsuit pending? If not, what was the outcome?

I have yet to hear what the results of the lawsuit were. The paitent lost all use of his legs as well as bladder and bowel function. I have yet to find anyone who would trade that for $10,000,000.

does anyone know why my .zip file wont post?

I guess the file is too big to be attached as an "image"-link,
and therefore discarded by the posting process.

I think you have to make it available on a ftp or web accessible area and post just the link.
I'm short on hosting space myself but maybe there are anyone else here on the forum that may give you some (for a shot while anyway ;) ).

Hey Fozz, very nice animations. I really enjoyed both of them. I like the plane shooting the mavrick best. For the Mig 29, what did you use for the exhaust smoke trails?
Thanks and great job!

Thanks Ramon.

I simply parented a particleemitter on the plane and rendered out just the particles to frames (very lowquality sprites) which I imported to AfterEffects and used as mask for some blur and smoke effekt. Done in a matter of minutes.

The whole thing was a test, that's why there's only smoketrail in one of the shots. :)

Okay here is one I created just for fun. It was inspired by Dr. Suess's book, "Oh the Places You'll Go" and my own experience with new teachers.

Hey Fozz, I checked out a few more of your animations on your website - sweet! Also, I love your models, they're so realistic and so are the animations/the way the planes were animated are very convincing! Did you model them with SubD or the traditional subdivided polys and boolean stenciling? Did you use surface baker/radiosity for your models to give them that slightly gritty look or did you just render the scene out with radiosity? If so was it standard (sphere) or background radiosity? Tell us us about the landscape too - if you wouldn't mind.
BRILLIANT WORK! Cable news could use your animations as real footage and no one would be the wiser.

(Disclaimer: I am not in any way either related to or employed by Fozz.)

Hehe, glad someone likes my stuff. :)

The planes are modelled with Subds, but freezed before I did the UVmapping and details. There's no baking or radiosity, it's just regular painted textures and rendered with a lightdome. Used about 35 spotlights I belive. Rendered in seconds.
There's some postprocessing done aswell.

The landscape are a very simple modelled thing, with a big generic tileing desert texture applied. I did the texture from several highres aerial photos.

This is a great animation Fozz. Planes look realy great!
The only thing i noticed was that there is no motion of ailerons.
cheers,

I recognized some J.M.Jarre music in the background. Fits nicely into the composition.

I don't just like it, I love it!!! It's excellent work!
Now, when you say lightdome - I can't help but think of radiosity solutions. Yet, since you say that there is no radiosity used and that you only used 35 or so lights, then you mean - luxigons created from the dome that makes up the sky? I'm curious as to this. You must have turned off shadows to all the lights then (through the spreadsheet editor?), except for the one that is comming from the direction of the sun. Or of course, I could just be WAY off. Either way please "enlighten" us.... (pardon the pun).
Thanks for your responces!

Fozz

Yeah, I used luxigons to produce a dome of lights.
It's a quite old scene now, so don't remember the exact settings, but I had shadows activated for most lights.
Had BIG trouble getting the right light on the tailfins, since they are angled straight up they got the color from the more horizontal filllights on the sides, while the rest of the body got the color of the lights that pointed more downwards. Also, I needed shadows on most filllights, otherwise areas like the airintakes would get too much light even though they should be shadowed.

Anyway, was much hassle back then, I now know how to make it alot faster and easier. But the whole reason I did it was to learn, so it was a success.
Now if only someone would pay me to do some more... :)

Man, with your talent you should be able to get many jobs doing this - easy! It's just that marketing artwork is a pain I know this first hand. The creation of artwork/animations is what we artist do, many of us dreed the marketing aspect of it.

Ok, this isn't mine but I have to share one of the coolest animations I've seen with Lightwave. It's by Lukasz Pazera who made the ACS plug-in for Lightwave:

Rightclick and save:

And when you're done, check out the website:

http://www.pazur.3d.pl/REF_Home.htm Lots of good tips and techniques there...
