ok i know i must be getting something very basic wrong here, but I'm having trouble with my skybaked sphere. i have my perfectly lit scene, all fine. Then i bring in my sphere with the sky texture applied to it (rendered with skybaker). this is all fine too except when i render my scene is suddenly hardly lit at all. and yes, all the lights are inside the sky sphere. it all looks quite bright and well lit in open GL.

one other thing- my groundplane ends quite harshly on the horizon line but i want it to be a bit softer with haze. what's the best way to do this? do i just use fog? what sort?

thanks!

If your scene is lit with distant lights that are casting shadows, then it sounds like your sphere is blocking the lights. It doesn't matter where distant lights are placed, only their rotation angles. Open the Properties panel for the skysphere and go to the Render tab. Then, uncheck Self Shadow, Cast Shadow, and Receive Shadow. Now, the skysphere shouldn't cast its shadow on the ground plane.
