I currently own a Lightwave 7.5 educational version. Will i be able to buy the comercial upgrade of lightwave 8.0 and have no probs. Am i allowed to do that or will lightwave 8 refuse to work/install due to that it isnt upgrading a commercial version?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so .. specially when Discovery is for free.

hmm, You may be right I have heard about version for non-commercial works, specially for students but as I know, difference betwean this version and full version was only in license. If so, then upgrade should work with that version too.

Yes. There are 3 versions.

1.Discovery (Limits you to 400 points per layer)
2.Educational Version ($300 or so, Exactly the same as Commercial version, apart from licence which prohbits you from makeing money from it. Its only available to students and teachers etc.)
3.Commercial version(Everything with no limitations)

Thanks for your answers. I just dont want to buy the upgrade and find out that it ends up running as an edu version or doesnt work at all. When does it get/is it released?

I have bought Lightwave "with free upgrade to v8" so I'm not quite sure if other versions will also have upgrade for free.

When does it get/is it released?

good question
