I'm trying to follow this tutorial on the Motion Mixer, but for some reason, can't seem to find the scene file:


Does anyone happen to know where it is?

The googles suggest that this may have appeared in the LW9 content.

Yeah, it is sure looking that way. I was hoping that the documentation for 2019 wasn't referencing .lws from V9, but I guess it is. I wonder if NT could find it in their heart to provide a link to the ProtonJack .lws. I'm in the midst of exploring the Motion Mixer right now, and it is a little trickier than I thought it would be.

What are you trying to do in motion mixer beyond just following a tutorial? perhaps someone here can answer any questions you may have instead.

Just did a search on my older system & finding Proton Jack items back to 9.6. Also found it with Johnny Gordon's CartoonCreation for V8, as well as object & scene with V11. On my My Profile page www.lightwave3d.com, V11 content can still be downloaded.

Wow, that scene file works perfectly in LW 2019. That's cool to see such compatibility between versions so far apart.

Re: NevronMotion - it appears it is still a separate paid for plugin. For some reason I had thought it had been integrated into the recent releases. I trust it works well and as advertised?

I am trying to understand how to create more complex animations with my characters. I am trying to figure out how to use animations from elsewhere, like Turbosquid free motion capture files, and integrate them into my character and other animations.

In a sense I am looking for that elusive 'make my character walk' button.

For example if you download the fbx and the bvh of the Cheerleader Dancer 19 at turbosquid


I can import the bvh and get it to control my character but the bvh, at least in this particular case, doesn't have all the motions it is just a loose hanging skelton that moves around a bit. If you import items from the FBX you get a set of bones that show the actions quite clearly but I can't get that to control my character...

If you're interested in that, you might also want to look at the Mixamo rigs and animations. There's quite a range of animations and if you use Motion Mixer, you should be able to combine animations. As a newcomer to animation, what I've been doing is cheating a lot with editing. Just do simple animations, but then cut from shot to shot, animation to animation, to create the sense of the actions being connected.

I've always had issues with trying to match motion files to rigs, especially because the names all need to line up. It is not for the faint of heart.

Also, I think Glycon has a lot of promise too, and those files are compatible with Mixamo rigs too.
