View Full Version : Hats off to NewTek -- you have my respect 100%!

This thread is started to extend my thanks and appreciation to the excellent team at NewTek for their hard work and dedication in making the next release of LightWave an exceptional product, and for taking the time necessary to really do the job right!

I was highly critical of this cool company last year when it appeared that LW8 was going to rush the market around Siggraph time -- but I must admit that it took guts and a true concern for the welfare of the LW community to put in the extra months to make sure LW8 is competitive, complete and as bug-free as possible. Yes, we have all had to be patient, but I think the end result will definitely be worth it.

In an era where so many companies are rushing to get products out in order to beat the competition to Siggraph, NewTek has taken the high road, and put in as many manhours as needed to make sure that LW8 users are really given a quality upgrade -- this has earned my undying respect and 100% loyalty. I'll be purchasing my upgrade sight-unseen today, because I have faith in this awesome team, and now know that NewTek has really put the customer above the bottom line -- a very rare thing these days indeed!

Thank you Chuck, and all the rest of the guyz at NewTek -- you're the best! I hope many others out there will add their thanks and appreciation to this thread -- I'd like it to be a cool starter to the New Year for this top-notch crew....

Yeap that sums it up for me. I've already purchased my upgrade and got the DFX+ bonus pack so I'm a happy person. I definatly would rather have a product that has been quality tested before I get it.

Thanks for all your great work and all the cool training videos. I've definatly learned more about LW8 just by watching these videos than if I ever read a book.

That was a gutsy moove and they knew they would take some heat for it. I really think it was the right choice, I personally would like LW to be competitive feature wise as the big boys, but thats my take on it.

I do make 100% of my living with 3D & productions. So you guys please make this product somthing that I can use for the majority of the 3D part of our productions instead of going from package to package to achieve our final product.

Animotion. ;)

yeah for sure!

I bought my upgrade in september last year and believe that lightwave 8 is going to be a good step forward for lightwave now we have a new new development team onboard.

also i'd like to add that early last year i asked on a few occasions that it would be great to see some free training video's from newtek...and just look what happened!...they listened and started to deliver downloadable feature presentations as well as the live stream of the siggraph show..it's that sort of dedication to their users that set them apart from the "blood sucking" huge companies who sell competing software...where you have to sign up a sort of "3d app rental scheme" to have access to sub standard training materials and the once "free plugins" now only subscription only...talk about a lack of value for money with discreet!

newtek have had a rough ride over the last year with what's been going on in the background but i think the're set to come out stronger in the long run with real useful features that can be used and not a gimmick which will only serve well as a feature on the side of the box like some apps out there currently.

lightwave/newtek has and continuse to deliver a full spec product at a very competative price with great backup and is willing to listen and learn from it's users.

way to go people!

I 100% agree with all of the positive comments about Lightwave/newtek. everything about this company is great. I am really glad everyone at newtek is great at what they do. Just wanted to say thanx for a great job!!! I preordered LW 8 and although i was a bit upset i couldn't play with it over x-mas . i know it will be a great product. LW 7.5 is fine for now, but i am really looking forward to LW 8

Yes many thanks to everyone at Newtek.

Well, iŽd like to put my general thanks for LW...the rest is life as it is. I REALLY DO hope this is not going to be another 6.0 like affair...

Allow me to add my respects to this general adulation thread. ;)

Whilst I acknowledge that *some* of the updated LW8 is based on third party products being integrated, it is not all.
As Deuce has said, lots of work can be done under the hood without visible results (in demos / screenshots).

I am also pretty sure by the final 8.X release (whatever number that may be), it will be a package that will more than worth the upgrade..and then some. I'd wager there will be some "kickin' features" as some of the younger generation may have it. ;)

I just wish that we could bypass the slamming we all know will come along regardless of how cool it is. I hope that Chuck and Proton, indeed all at Newtek are keeping a perspective on the flood of negativity at present and understand that many of us are the quiet, happy people! :D

I won't add much to what others have said above apart from "I agree" and that I made the right choice to use Lightwave for my work and am also pleased with LW8 direction.

I agree ! :) they surely deserve our respect and I am really sure they're doing a damn hard work for developing a good Lw release with the current structure.

Nice one Kevin - hats off to Newtek for continuing to develop a superior product that has brought professional 3D to an affordable level without compromising quality. It's cool that the team are taking their time unleashing 8... remember the glitches with 6 when it appeared to have been released too soon?

Lightwave has always been a pleasure to use and its capabilities still continue to amaze me. 7.5 is a fab program, so 8 should be mind blowing...

I've been using Newtek products for years now...
since Lightwave 5.6. Phillip Nelson was the sales rep at that time, and he took plenty of time explaining to me why I should go with Lightwave.

And, with the exception of the Toaster (which is just a little quirky when building your own), everything's been "money".

I held out as long as I could, then they posted videos of some of the new features...SOLD!
I ordered my first upgraded seat this morning.

I have no doubts that Lightwave 8 will be just what the doctor ordered and will pay itself off here in no time flat.

I work with other 3d specialists in the field, some of whom use "those other programs" and let me tell ya...not one of them owns their own copies at home, but plenty have Lightwave.
This should be telling.

I, for one, am glad that they're taking the time to debug 8 before I start brewing the midnight coffee playing with it.
