View Full Version : Help with Rig Problems in Layout

So I'm using layout (2018.0.7) to do some character posing to use as reference for other projects. I've done this before with no problems, but now I'm getting an error pop up that says
Error: GENOMA_CREATE_RIG.LSC
Line 667, the named object 'Right_ControlIKPlaneUpLeg' does not exist

I load in one character, Create Rig, and it works fine. Load in a second into the scene, Create Rig and the entire second character rig breaks with the above error.
Creating them independantly both models work just fine, but load them both into the same scene and the second character's IK toggles don't work at all(they rotate, but they say "IK on FK On" and nothing changes.
This seems to happen with any model I load now. Not sure what changed, anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Here's some overly dramatic brick men demonstrating:

if these are two identical developers with the same rig, you must rename the components of one of them using the specific command Genoma Renamer.

Where might I find this Genoma Renamer? I see references to it being a plugin, but it doesn't seem to be in my list and all the links I've found to download it are 404s.
Also, yes, those are two identical rigs, in that example anyway.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but the script in the second link produces
Error:RENAMEIKFKCONTROLS.LS
Line 26, the named object 'Right_FK_Upperarm' does not exist
And seems to do nothing else.

Can any of the files linked off that video actually be found anywhere else anymore? Because all the dropbox links from the forum post it provides are just 404s for me.

Yes, please! The thread referenced in the Comments for the video is:

https://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?133631-Genoma-Updates-and-related-plugins&p=1301776#post1301776

in which Lino Grandi posted several scripts which look REALLY valuable for using Genoma:

Genoma_Renamer: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/Genoma_Renamer.lsc
Genoma_Motion_Manager: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/Genoma_Motion_Manager.lsc
Multi_Item_Shape: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/Multi_Item_Shape.lsc
Add_Genoma_Motion: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/add_Genoma_Motion.lsc
Add_Genoma_Renamer: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/add_Genoma_Renamer.lsc
Add_Genoma_Item_Shape:https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/add_Genoma_Item_Shape.lsc

and a "latest versions" link:

"Latest Versions": https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12286806/Genoma_Tools.zip

All of these links are dead. Can anybody upload the tools Mr. Grandi wrote? To me it's really unfortunate that later in the thread someone requested that he post them on the official LW plugins site and he refused!

Oh god... G1 rigs... yeah, naming issues.

First, you wont be able to rig both characters in the same scene, you'll have to do them in separate, then bring one into the other. Ofc, things will have to be renamed in order for them not to trouble each other, and not just bones n things, but also expressions or whatnot. Can't remember exactly the whole go-through.

Get em both rigged in their own scenes, post the scenes, I'll have a peek a boo.

So, a friend of mine reminded me of a magical feature I had completely forgotten about. The Wayback Machine.
Thanks to that, I now have those mysteriously long absent files, attached here for other's benefit. Sadly, not all of the files were recoverable, but the Motion Manager and Renamer were!

Interestingly enough while this has now solved my problem, mostly, if I toggle any of the IKFK controllers on any one of the rigs in the scene, the corresponding controller toggles on all of them at once.

Because you have to rename the expressions and other stuff too... renaming items alone isnt enough.
