Hey guys,
it is time for me to get a new system for my 3D/illustration work.
and I do want to buy a premade system( I dont build systems from scartch, that is not my thing)
that can be used for 3d work and heavey duty work in Premiere and Photoshop,

Any advice on what to get? What to avoid?

I don't know if it'd be of interest, but I've been very pleased with a refurbished Dell Optiplex 9020 from NewEgg:

Using the filters on the left of that page and searching for an Intel i7 processor, one of the possibilities might be:

It doesn't have a good graphics card which could be added of course, and bumping it up to 32GB memory and a 2TB disk is still just a little over $600 and leaves some "wiggle room" for a graphics card, SDD drive, etc. before your $1K limit.

Just a thought, and not newest technology, but might work for you.

P.S. note that this is just the computer itself, and doesn't include any peripherals or an operating system. I used a full-retail Windows 7 distribution I already had to install Windows 7 on the one I have (you should probably ask NewEgg / vendor if Win7 can be installed on this one if that's what you want), and I already had the keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.

Wow Robert, that's a pretty tall order these days. Reason being, graphics & 3D in particular are moving more & more to GPU based processing which not only means new graphics cards, but the rest of the system that can actually make use of their advances. Win7 is at the end of it's life & the hardware that was current when it was simply can't be taught the newer tricks. I've always built my own systems, but saw the writing on the wall some years ago & planned for it & recently bit the bullet for a new Win10 system.

Now I'm NOT saying go buy from these guys (although I'm quite pleased), simply supplying a link for some videos as a starting point of what's what when considering a graphics system these days.

I go with pre-made systems too. 1K budget I'd go with something like this, maybe kick in an extra $100 to make it 32 gigs.

So not under $1000, but a lot of power for around $1000, depending on configuration

Check it out, hope it helps.
