Just dropped some dollars on this, been thinking about it for a while as a great asset to aid character-work in LW

MD - https://www.marvelousdesigner.com/

And a colleague pointed me to this training site - https://cgelves.com/ Material looks very thorough, about to take the plunge on that as well ...

Is anyone using MD beyond making pillows? Anyone tapped in to the CG Elves training material?

I've used various versions of MD to make clothes for various characters - dresses, shirts, pants, uniforms. Haven't tapped into the cgelves training in any depth. I've also set up custom avatars in MD (which isn't as hard as it appears), and am looking to export animation from Lightwave to MD, simulate the cloth, then export the simulation back to LW for rendering.

I'll be upgrading to MD8 and LW19 as soon as money starts coming in...

Yes, I bought MD two years ago and do have access to the cgelves training. Its good, but as far as I know its been a year or two since it was updated so might not reflect the latest features. But overall I would say it was very good in showing all the ins and outs of marvelous designer as well as giving you specific project based tutorials.

MD is great. Only wish I had more time to make use of it.

I recommend you buy it from their website, not on Steam. They don't offer upgrades for Steam users. So basically you pay more to keep up to date on Steam than buying on their website and keep current from version to version.

Lori Griffiths seems to be an MD expert and had some sort of official recognition. Her old out-of-print book Understanding Marvelous Designer (https://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Marvelous-Designer-Guide-Artists/dp/0998334286/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=Understanding+Marvelo us+Designer&qid=1550078055&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull) is currently £958.80 on UK Amazon and $704.85 on US Amazon, but there is an online version (https://understandingmarvelousdesigner.com/) which is kept up to date for only $24.95 per year. She has some MD course(s) on Udemy (https://www.udemy.com/user/lori-griffiths/) too. I'm not sure of the overall value if a person already has CG Eleves, but it is probably worth being aware of the resources. :)

Thanks for the heads up. I've used it off and on in the past but never owned a copy.

I notice on the MD website there is no ‘upgrade options’.
Does this mean this is the last perpetual version, and you will be stuck with it unless you go subscription.
Fantastic deal though 50% off.

The Upgrade options are there, but you have to log in to see them. It will then show $122.50 as 75% off from MD7, and will also say 60% off from MD6.

Thanks for feedback guys - I've ended up taking the plunge with CG-Elves' training, looking forward to earning a black belt in MD ... soon-ish? :-)

Yep, that's where I bought it from

Pulled the trigger last night. Don't have an immediate project, but just having it in the toolbox at half price seemed worth it.

How about, you have to make your black belt in MD to earn said black belt.

I must have missed this earlier ... yes, the thought of creating a gi with belt had crossed my mind already :D
