Ok, what are the best ways to get folds and ripples in jackets, cloaks, etc?

Are there turtorial on this kind of thing?

are you looking to do static ones built into the geometry for poses.

Or are you looking to have the whole thing animated?

Ive had some success using deform textures on the object such as a turbulence deformation (not bump maps but object deformation on the object properties) You need a fairly high polygon count and best if the polygons are trippled.
Other than that I'm experimenting with Motion Designer now.
hope that gives some ideas.

Right now I guess I am looking for static folds. You know, like the ones you might see near the elbow of a leather jacket.
