I see that LWCAD displays dimensions but can you print it out like a blueprint for prototyping & building? Can LightWave do this on its own? I work for a museum and we use LightWave for presentations, we would like to take our presentation to fabrication. Can LightWave do this? If LightWave can not do this, what would you suggest?

I made plugin which is dynamically generating and rendering text inside of Layout.
http://truetypetext.trueart.eu
(You will have to read what LWCAD showed, and enter it to text field in TrueTypeText plugin in Layout)

LWCAD has that...

...but I'm new to LWCAD so I'm not seeing how to export those to something printable.

I usually do dimensioning in a CAD program. A good, free gateway drug is https://www.freecadweb.org/

How-to's...

My workflow is the reverse of what you're doing (I take existing engineering drawings/models into LW for beauty renders) but I imagine you could export something from LW to import into a CAD program to dimension.

To fabrication... what kind?
A blueprint can be done with the system printscreen funcion, in a pinch, as long as you already have the measurement data present.
As well, with that data had, you can output an eps. I would suggest you 'play' with the tool a bit to see what your best output settings are.
These files can also be used in the flow toward laser cutting.

From there you have 3d printing for which there is an stl exporter.
Someone on the forum introduced me to using Blender for creating cnc useful files.

Many ways to get the data out for fabrication purposes.

I contacted Viktor about a year and half ago with this request and it's on his radar to do in a future upgrade. He's got a lot on his plate so be patient. Our current workflow for this - and it's not cheap - is load .lwo into Modo and export as an .SAT using their Power Translators plugin and then loading the .SAT into Autocrap Inventor and dimensioning it there.

Modo + MechanicalColor Dara (Metermade) is another option, IIRC -- Metermade provides visible dimensioning in Modo.
