I would say I am at the intermediate stages in modeling...I've produced a few nice models...but I need help now...

I've been contracted, sort of, to model THIS mech..

http://www.amiami.com/pic/mwda/MWDA_144_rot01.jpg

It's a Ryoken II from MechWarrior dark Age.

I can do the arms, lower torso, missile racks and legs, but that cockpit and center torso have me thrown for a loop. How can I get the curves like that and then have it mesh seamlessly with the polygonal cockpit.

Any help is appreciated...and enjoy one of my other meshes while you're at it...

Kinda hard to see in that pic.
Can ya remove what ya can do and get cupla closeups of what is left?

Here's a closeup view...

The red circle (cockpit) is what I need to model.

Unless you are specifically looking to sub-D the object, I don't think they have to be seamless.

If you think about it, a mech is modular, bits and pieces bolted together. Personally, I would study the cockpit and break it down into its component parts.
On the physical model they don't looked to be all linked, though it is difficult to make out.

Think about it in terms of how it *would* be built if it was real, how would you construct it? An interior, a cage, the upper cokcpit 'sits' on the lower one via the 'rollbars'. These are spearate from the lower box section of the cockpit and the substructure/gun underneath.
If you break it down like this, it probably won't seem as daunting.

by looking at the new pic (a little better), Colkai is right.

Like the boxes on the side are seperate objects from main body, and the missles(?) within the boxes are seperate from them (like you would put a pane of glass in a window frame)
The green frame would be seperate from the cockpit.
and so on

Just look at the object and break it down, you will be suprised how simple most things how, just a lot of primitive shapes modified to a certain extent, this is epecially true with mechanical things such as that robot. Just look at it and break it down into it's simpler shapes.
