i've got a model i'm converting from high poly to low poly.
an airplane.

was wondering what kind of modeling tools do you guys use to fix non planers - (sorry not ngons).

i used dissolve to make a quad or merge poly, but sometimes it turns into an ngon when i do that.

is there a tool that will re orientate the poly so it's not an nonplaner? Some sort of aligner that fixes the twisted poly (nonplaner)

oh -found flatten - seems to do the trick

Here are some tools that might help: Merge points. Unify polygons. Select 1 and 2 point polys and delete. Select ngons with the statistics panel and triple them then use Merge Triangles to make quads. Also the Flatten command to make a group of polygons planar. Use Untangle to make an ngon circular.

I don't really have a problem with them these days but I used to just look in wireframe mode and rotate the view until all the but one of them were in a row, then drag the offending point into line. Of course this could mess up any other polys connected to it so you have to be careful or you end up on a wild goose chase trying to fix them.

You access that tool by pressing TAB! :)
