View Full Version : Particles - Start Now, Fall Later

Hello all!

I'm trying to get paint flakes to fall off a wall. I'm using a particle emitter that generates particles based on an image sequence of expanding decay. It looks cool because I have particles appearing and falling where the decay is expanding.

BUT, I need these paint flakes to be visible the whole time, not just appear and fall. Meaning, I need to see the flakes on the wall, and stick there, until the decay touches them, at which point they fall. Should I...

1) Edit my .pfx file to somehow allow all particles to be visible before they're generated?

2) Re-simulate the particles to all be generated on frame one, but somehow only fall once the decay touches them?

3) Use Bullet Dynamics or something but then I'd have to model all the flakes or something or something or something?

Okay you geniuses you... go! And thanks. =)

Create one set of particles that sit on the wall, use your expanding decay to kill them, on their death create the falling ones.
