Welll..There is still August to count in here in sweden, but itīs been a very hot summer every since May, and
The meterologist says June and July has been having a record of most days of 30 + degrees celsius, and not since we started to record the temperatures here in Sweden has it been as many days
with that peak.

30 degreeīs today as well..itīs been like that for weeks, and most likely tomorrow as well, no rain..but it looks like the heatwave will slow down during saturday and in to next week, where it may drop to
25-26 degrees with some rain, I am longing for that now, sticky air humidity as well right now and hard to sleep, no air condition.

The heatwave goes almost all over Europe it seems, in Germany Sachsen-Anhalt.. 39,4 + celsius...so I am not in the worse hot spot.

That sort of high temp happens so frequently here in San Antonio that have a special word for it ( like that old saw about how Eskimos have so many words for snow): We call it "afternoon". ;)

And you all guys got air condition at work and at home of course?

Yes..I figured that a lot of places over there has this kind of temperatures and even much higher from day to day..all year around?

Unusual over here to have it going on for weeks, the last summer was a bit lousy though, not a day over 23 degrees I think, and I had to have a warming fan on at nights since I percieved it to be too cold.
yesterday 23 degrees plus all night I think it was.

Unusual wether heatwave like this in Sweden is why not many folks bother to invest in air condition, If I knew this will probably be occouring more in the future, then I need to get me one.
It can be great though sitting on the balcony listening to the crickets and having a night sandwich and cold chocolate milk... and look at the bright cyan blue summernight, which doesnīt really go down fully at night... and every now and then the sky is covered with whispy thin cloud streakes.

Though I am not a big fan of warm weather like this, usually when it goes over 25 degrees I stay inside if it is during day and the sun is boiling, but I appreciate this warm summer anyway and prefer it over the lousy last summer actually, especially since I got 5 weeks vacation during this time, and have been back at work now for one and a half week...I do get a bit drowsy and lubricate a bit though, so I am meeting these first days at work with a bit more relaxed tempo.

August is often warm as well..not as high in heat peaks though, then comes my favourite month September when the air getīs a bit chilly, but still comfortable to be out at night ..and the air feels more fresher and breathable.

hottest May in East Norway, since they started measuring
and hottest July in 60 years

honestly, quite tired of it.

i've lived in Miami, and it is too hot, however, we had air-condition,
here, all of those are sold out, you can barely buy fans.

what a summer.  :/

Yup..Iīm fed up with it too, have to endure 3-4 days more..then it cools down some degrees with a little rain as well.

And yes, fans is all sold out here as well, though I got me one fan and a heating fan that can use a non heating setting, it kind of stears up the air and give a little relief, but itīs still warm air.
You really do not want to book a trip for us northern guys to Miami, just to cool down with the help of their air conditioners.:D

I am thinking of just building a crappy home cooler with a fan, if it works?

itīs 9:30 AM and beginning of a working day, itīs just 26 + celsius, expected to reach 31-33 today.

DIY air con is on Ebay buy it next winter!

The kit gives you a Heat exchanger, & tuned pipe connector & the wall cassette ( hot & cold)

& a large brick drill (for the pipe) & IR handset.

Good for one large room , easy fit, 3 hrs should be about $350 u.s.

We also had a long heatwave with temperatures ranging from 25-32 each day and we went 7 weeks and 1 day without any rain. The drought finally broke last Friday. Been cooler since then but the heat is building back again for the end of the week and the weekend. Other than the chronic lack of rain (it was an utter pain having to water the plants in my garden every other day) no complaints from me. It reminds me of Australia :-)

thing is, the heat in hot places is much easier to take as they are usually in drier atmosphere locations, when I went to vegas, it was around 45deg, but the air is so dry it was much more comfortable than the 36 we are getting where I am in the uk, and it looks set to go back up to around 38 this week end as yet another heatwave starts to hit Europe from tomorrow, spain is reporting the highest temps ever recorded today and maybe even more so tomorrow, thing is, its not actually out of the norm as some groups might lead you to believe, if you go back a few hundred years the uk and Europe was much hotter, long before industrial boom, its why lots of roads in the south are named things like "Vine street) as much of the south of England was vineyards etc and was a comparable climate to what the south of france is today, it also went to the other extremes, like the river themes freezing over in London, not happened in a long time but would have been a regular occurrence (we are technically still exiting from the last big ice age after all, and we are just at the bottom of a mini ice age, technically the polar icecaps actually have to completely vanish over the next 10,000 years as they have done every 100,000 years since the dawn of the dinosaurs', 90,000 years of getting colder, then 10,000 years getting hotter,)

Im gonna ask my niece how it was, she was over there in Brighton the last week, and planned to take a bath :)

30 degrees today again, and I was sweating already 10 minutes after starting my work, itīs a sticky humidity in the air..not dry, itīs gonna be almost the same tomorrow, and maybe one degree lower on friday, maybe saturday it starts to drop 3-4 degrees with expected thunder as well, and much cooler the next week is predicted...yay.

Yep we often get the humidity as well. I live around 8 miles outside the city right on the edge of the South Downs and it's usually a couple of degrees warmer here during the summer and a couple of degrees colder during the winter due to the village being around 100 metres higher than the city and a bit further away from the sea.

Back to watering the plants tomorrow :-(

Sweden seems right on par with western Canada......just cooling down after a week of 35 degree weather.

Also, what up with the Swedish “Crown Jewels” getting stolen?

I think it is two crown jewels, not mine though:D

They originate from the around the time 16011, and it was the Ceremonial burial crown for the death of our king Karl IX (son of Gustaf Vasa..the vasa ship you know) and also another crown for his wife and queen who died 1625.
These Relics can not be sold they say...but maybe they can, there might be pirate collectors who are willing to have them, but not in any legal open market.
Not sure what the thiefs are gonna do otherwise, melting it down..and sell? or ask a ransom...but that would most likely be fatal.

The Crowns are made in Gold, enamel and pearls, they are invaluable as historical items for our nation.
The crown jewels has been stored in a church...but visable for the public to watch, after having broken the alarmed security stand., then the thiefs probably went out to sea with scoters..and they have not been caught yet.

Any word on the Crown Jewels?
That would suck if they were melted down and sold as raw gold.
Although there can’t be a huge market for a country’s treasure.
I hope they are returned to Sweden.

They should resurrect the 'eye for an eye' punishment for this crime alone...

could happen, the problem is that it is awfully difficult to predict.

if i were to count the failed predictions of climate change... that list would be long!

that said, summers will get hotter over-all, according to most scientists.

Yes, and it would be preferable that this one doesn't come true. I've read too much SF where it is the case not to want it to happen for reals, and not to leave that as a world for my child.

Yep..that would be sad, we recently this week have had news reports..based on Swedish scientists research and warnings, or if it is a global scientist sharing of some other results...
Web translation from swedish to english..
https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fsvenska.yle.fi%2Fartikel%2F2018%2F 08%2F06%2Fsvensk-forskning-bara-en-liten-temperaturokning-kan-gora-jorden-till-ett

Itīs the Stockholm Resilience Center (SRC)

And by the way...Ivé always been afraid of sharks..I blame Spielberg on that one:D
In sweden we do not have many animals to fear, but it seems scientist are warning for that it is maybe just a matter of time before white sharks may surface within the region of Danish waters, and probably near Swedish south coast..which is near denmark.

White shark has been spotted around Britain it seems..
https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.expressen.se%2Fkvallsposten%2F forskare-varnar-snart-finns-det-vithaj-i-skane%2F

Some errors in the translation, and white shark is called vithaj in Swedish, and Bad guest doesnīt mean you are a bad guest, bad is bath in swedish, so it should be bath guest.
And I was planning on visiting denmark and skåne for a bath this summer..due to the hot summer, but I dont know.
