View Full Version : ClothFX broken in 2018?

The situation is such that I need to make an imitation of the rope, which is held in both hands by the worker. I need ClothFx dynamics (Bullet It does not give me what I want no matter how I try to play with the settings), but it turns out that the old dynamics in lw2018 are corrupted - moving collision objects are not recognized. Then I export the scene to the format lw2015. I would make a scene there, but FFX refuses to work with my rope. When I drop objects in 2015, I lose all their settings. Materials are configured for Octane render.
As a result, I have to work in two versions at once, constantly at risk of losing materials and other settings, and besides, it takes a lot of time.
I'm really looking forward to the next update with the fully working speaker module.

I just did a simple null set to a bounce collision and key framed it moving into a cloth sphere and that seemed to work fine in 2018.0.4 Can you post an image or the scene? I'm not really a cloth fx expert.. .or dynamics.. but I would think you could get that result using either method.

Make sure the objects aren't too big (or too small): I've had very strange behavior with extreme scales (see thread (http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?156824-Problems-with-bullet-and-cloth-in-2018)). This restriction is documented in the new 2018 docs.

I already made a request to Newtek and sent them a test scene. They confirmed the bug:

The issue appears related to what position Layout is telling the collision object to be at. The ground plane probably works since it is always at the origin.
I will get this report assigned to the proper developer for assessment.

Thank you for your report.
