Is it possible to Luma key a 2D image node; so that black (for example) becomes transparent?

I could use Photoshop to do it; but, was just wondering if I could skip that step.

What you seek is a clip map I believe.

I think there's a way in Image Editor to make the luminosity of an image the transparency.

Thanks for the reply. That's the first thing I tried; but doesn't seem to be working. (see attachment)

Happy to report in this instance you don't need the Node editor.

Just load the black and white image as a clip map texture.

IN my case I inverted the image.

That's it. There may be a way to do it in nodes but I'm not there yet. Still learning 'em.

Well, I just created my first node effect. Kinda proud of myself LOL!

Ahhhh, thanks a bazillion! Both methods work. BTW, there is an "invert" in the main dialog for the Clip Map technique. Both inverts seem to lead to the same result.
