Hey guys,
during the years we have posted TONS of OLD threads with GOOD ideas on how to improve lightwave.

I was thinking that since we are dealing with a NEW development team, it would be cool to at least post LINKS to your favorite
old feature request threads.

[Comment from the Moderators: We do not have a new development team. All current team members have been onboard for at least a decade, some a couple. We've accordingly retitled the thread; and the topic is a great idea, we look forward to your recommendations on threads to look into.]

this list leaves out several workflow improvements as far as i recall
(history, stack, linking values, locking layers, etc...)

Just to quell the rumors that "new development team" will start, we don't have a new development team. The folks currently in the crew have all been onboard for a lot of years.

The Modeler Survey was the crew taking a fresh sampling of the users to consider priorities going into the next couple of cycles.

The folks currently in the crew have all been onboard for a lot of years. Not unlike some of the users :D Some of whom, including myself, have been pretty quiet for the last couple of years. Nice to see a few old faces reappearing ... and still around :)

I do hope this thread does not get derailed over my misunderstanding. I still thin there is a ton of VALID content in the forum that can be mined.

We agree. The thread has been retitled to avoid confusion, and we've expanded on the Moderator comment to let folks know the team will appreciate the input on threads to check into for feedback.

This isn’t so much of an isolated Modeler feature as it is a Lightwave feature but I want to be able to activate Lightwave on LINUX.

The only reason, from what I understand through my own experimentation and communicating with LW tech support, that we can’t activate our licenses at the moment using WINE is because the LW license is activated through Windows Firewall, which isn’t implemented in WINE. I posted a thread about it on the WINE forums but never received any feedback: https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28426

Ironically, the trial for Lightwave 2018 activated just fine on LINUX through WINE. I wish there was a way that they could make a Lightwave-on-WINE installer and release it as an experimental, perhaps support-free, installer.

I’m not alone in wanting to see Lightwave on LINUX. This is a very old thread, but many of these folks expressed an interest: http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?141070-LW-on-linux&highlight=linux

The only reason I didn’t upgrade to Lightwave 2018 is because I can’t activate Lightwave on LINUX through WINE. At the moment, I’m running Lightwave through Virtualbox (Virtualbox doesn’t like Lightwave’s new PBR GL viewport shader, which kinda limits all the workflow pluses that 2018 brings). I’m on a Kabylake machine and have no intention of upgrading to Windows 10.
