Very cool.

But why is LWCAD so much more expensive for LightWave than it is for C4D and Max?

Very cool.

But why is LWCAD so much more expensive for LightWave than it is for C4D and Max?

1) Lots of LW specific tools & features are not needed in C4D / MAX
2) Some functionality missing like splines (but not much, the ArchViz tools are all there), but again, not needed in these applications

I actually don't know how the price is in comparison because as LWCAD 5 license owner I got the one for C4D too.

Funny is that compared to LightWave, LWCAD works SO much better in C4D due to the parametric workflow and deeper integration, interaction with other plugins or core features, working undo etc.

As far as I know, LWCAD for C4D and Max are considered "Lite" ?

LWcad workflow is much faster in LW than Max as long as you know your hot keys and what you are modeling. The advantages dissappear for any sort of procedural, non-destructive task. But also keep in mind that means managing more complexity.

For raw modeling LW workflow is faster and less clicky overall, particularly with 3rd Powers, True art and LWCad. Can you imagine LWCAD booleans and 3rd Powers Metamesh if they were nondestructive yet still kept the same fast workflow?

Basically, LW workflow is the best up until you drop your tool and commit changes. LWCAD cloning tools for instance are exceptionally straightforward and flexible...up until you drop the tool. What we need is some way to pick the tool back up.

I know I should just upgrade my LWCAD but asking anyway: Is it necessary to upgrade LWCAD to use it in LW 2018? Are there any broken tools? I think the version I have is 4.2.

I will upgrade eventually but, in the meantime, I want to be sure the one I have works in case I need to use it immediately. Just haven't had time to check on this myself yet.

Thanks for any info.

I've been using LWCad 5.51 in 2018 w/o any major issues, mostly operrs trying to remember how to do a specific task. I think all the snapping & alignment issues got addressed.

Thanks! That's encouraging.

Will still look forward to upgrading though.

Using 4.5 everyday or so in 2018 on Mac with no problem, here. I’ll upgrade someday, but my current priorities are on other plug-ins like metamorphic ATM.

Decided to upgrade to 5 yesterday but unfortunately, the downloads appear corrupted. Can't unpack either the current version or the beta. Tried downloading multiple times and using 7-zip and PeaZip. Has anybody else had trouble with the .zip files?

Agh! Hope this gets storted out soon. :(

Purchased mine, looks like another amazing LWCAD update! It's working great with LW2015.3! The new Window and Railing tools are major improvements (in both UX and capabilities)!

I have to say I'm finding myself using LWCAD-C4D more and more (and will gladly buy LWCAD-C4D 2018 when available), but decided it was worth at least one more upgrade of the Lightwave version of LWCAD as well.

Yep, working just fine with LW2015 -- Mac here, but I'm sure Win is fine too. I strongly recommend it to existing LWCAD customers, and IMO, it's on the must-have plugin list for anyone modeling in Modeler.

I got my update and works fine on PC 2015 & 2018. Viktor even gave me a multi knife tool which i have been asking for for some time. Highly recommend the update.

anyone knows the upgrade price from V5 to V2018? nevermind found it on the website - it it is not shown for company owners, only for private clients - apparently 149 EUR in europe. ouch.
