I just heard about MantaFlow for fluids. I don't know much about it but it seems to be based on Python, which I know LW now uses. Is there any way this might work in LW?

Well, it's written in C/C++ but offers a Python-based usage API. It can also be compiled as a straight C/C++ library (no Python bindings). I suspect either way could be useful "embedded" within a LW plugin, depending whether written in Python or C++. A notable limitation is that it's released under GPL3-based licensing, with all that entails.

Ah ok I didn't understand it from the site thanks.

It is being integrated in Blender so you could always do you simulation there and bring it back to LW.

How would a fluid sim be loaded into LW?

I imagine that you can apply the same workflow as used today with obj sequence. Bubbles and foam I’m not sure how to convert though.

This is also worth looking at. If you follow the links there's a new fluid simulator for Blender on the horizon. It seems some people are not happy with MantaFlow.

Looks quite good actually.

Oh yes for liquids probably the same. I actually wrote a tutorial on that in 3DWorld mag. I was thinking of the smoke fluids.

Smoke is easy, just use openvdb and lw2018.

Not so easy if you're using 2015

Then you have to render everything in Blender or comp the smoke to your lw render.

nobody has to use blender, just as no one has to use lightwave, it is an individual choice, i choose to use Lightwave, which is why i visit this forum.

Yes, sure. One problem though, mantaflow doesn’t work in LW?
