Im trying it now...

Seems to be more of control over your cpu and cache while sleep or idle time.
The diesel fans in my MDD keep me up.measure your comp temp (http://www.bresink.de/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html)

Update- SAVE YOUR WORK FIRST BEFORE U DO THIS...Just incase...

It seems to work, its actually from Apple themselves in the developers section.
I can switch to single cpu and the mac goes real quiet, I can deactivate cache etc. Great for when in idle.

log:
Have received a hard freeze over 5 hrs of idling with nap on :(
But have cooled system 15 degrees cooler.



Be confident you have backed up your work, for me so far no troubles although I got a hiccup when switching to single cpu mode.


Ahh quietness just like the g3 was.
