View Full Version : Is there any option to limit render time per frame with VPR for making previews?

Is there anyway to limit the time spent rendering per frame with VPR to make quick previews?

Say I am working on some clouds and I want to see the movement quickly with VPR.
Is it possible to add an option to tell VPR to only spend 5 or 10 seconds on a frame for previews?
Of course the quality would only refine once or twice but that would be enough and would make previewing much quicker.

I am trying to make a 120 frame preview of one of the cloud volumetric scenes that come with 2018 content but it is taking several minutes per frame even with draft, half resolution and the Camera set at 25% of 1920x1080. Would be nice if I could tell VPR to spend only 10 secs per frame.

In display options you could in 2015 set the preview to aa or different pixel sizes. Set it to 1 or 2 pixels instead if antialiasing and it will only refine until that pixel size and skip aa. Goes quicker but looks crappier. :)

Thanks yes that is what I was looking for. I know if you set it to every 4th pixel instead of antialiased it will look worse but for previewing it goes much quicker. It seems like that option should be in the VPR settings instead of display options. Oh well it works well for what I want.

Has this feature been taken out of Lighwave 2018?

No, still there - Display Options > Preview Scale Level.
