I bought lw2018 first day, i like a lot it, but ... after three years is too difficult to write a manual where there are ALL parameters explained?
i have many difficult to have clean render in reasonable time, i don't know if threshold work like in past, of what mean filter radius be cause are not present in camera section manual, vaious render tab are roughtly described... and i use lw from 1991... not from yesterday.
Newtek please learn from your errors :
- dedicate more than one people to documentation, sell more a good documented app than a powerful sfotware
- develop a Professional Optimized section to manual, how to find noise is a good start, but not enought
- many case study, and how to work with it

old manual are far far far better than actual, not perfect but i can found every parameters explained.
How could you think to sell new licenses if a newbie cannot find any real info on manual?
i work and teach 3d from 25 years and if my student cant have doc to learn, not use that software...

Structured video training is essential as well. Aside from technical previews for "LW Next", the most recent LWG training was dubbed "quick start" ('we don't have any solid direction for training but we're going to show you some random tricks') and was posted 2 years ago.

The docs are rather good and LW 2018's renderer works virtually nothing like any of its predecessors.

For better renders, this is a great read from the docs: https://docs.lightwave3d.com/display/LW2018/Removing+Noise+workflow

There are a lot of training materials available. Agreed that they need to advertise this fact, but if you go to youtube and type in lw2018 there's a plethora of material to begin learning this new beast.

For starters when it comes to the new render engine Iīd recommend RHīs channel on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTds3QePYrWFKQSaSWGMnKF7-4W84I5Tz

And also Andrew Combīs explanation of plain HDRI vs. HDRI combined with Environmental Light: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72AAwSFx4nA
Might help to avoid some frustration :-]
