Well I've opened them up to look at them, they are great.

Yeh, there was another link to this in another topic and thread, but I'm glad it's been posted here again. It's easier to find the link now. Intending on checking them out for sure.

Are the fbx files smaller than the obj's?
(The obj's are about 40mb each!)

When you DL the file (which apparently I've done), what the actual NAME of the file???

Gumroad doesn't seem to want me to dl it twice.

if you download the fbx it just says fbx.rar

Right - Rar is just a compressed file similar to zip. WinZip opens it just fine.
On the one I opened the FBX file was larger than the OBJ once it was translated into Lightwave.
This is what it looks like in LW.

Also when I downloaded the file it put it in my DropBox.

I've probably got few enough RAR files to find it, maybe. The big (dumb) issue is I apparently didn't immediately rename it and store it in a logical place. When I try to re-dl it (cuz that's how lazy I am), Gumroad says "you already 'bought' this product" (emph added).

+: I use "Agent Ransack" to search my desktop, and it's pretty fast, but I'd surely prefer a modern app that indexes, at least filenames, so it would be even faster. IIRC, there used to be some product that would index all files during idle states.

+2: there it is: "OBJ.rar", lol. Thanks vonpietro!!

Out of habit, I always create a folder named what is being downloaded. So, if it is a model named "Space Nurnie Hobby" I name the folder that way. So even if they were just named fbx, obj, or whatever, it would tell me what the model was.

That would require being organized and professional.

Me too. It's good to be organised and professional! ;)

Does anyone have the individual nurnies as .lwo?
( to post here to help with any download issues )

Download issues have been greatly exaggerated. The download from Gumroad is brutally simple.

It would still be good to have these in the .lwo format as separate models.

I would do it ( I have downloaded both FBX and OBJ and had a look inside both the .rar files ) but I can't even open the individual FBX files or the OBJ files inside the rars on my system as they are too big.

Yeah, I know...:compbeati

??? Even my wimpy system opened the "ALL" files ok. (OBJ) Lagged like crazy, but opened.

#7 is only 20 megs on disk, try that one. Or maybe you tried to load direct rather than un-raring the files first?

Interesting, I loaded #7 into LWM and immediately saved it as LWO: the resulting file shrank from 20M to 11M.

Innnnteresting.

That's OBJ bloat.

The OBJ data unRARs to 1.42 GB. The FBX data unRARs to 242 MB.

(this is without the redundant all-inclusive object file that I deleted ... I just kept the smaller packs)

You could further reduce filesize by converting useless triangles to quads on many of the models. Not looking the gift horse in the mouth but there's some inefficient modeling here. Clean up or prepare to increase render times.
