This information was mentioned in anther location on the fourms, but though I would put up here.
A new version of NDI® Tools 3.0 has been posted. https://www.newtek.com/ndi/tools/ In addition to NDI 3, this version of Tools supports the new NDI Studio Monitor application which offers audio meters, alpha channel support, on screen graticules and the ability to force low bandwidth mode among other new features.
Also available is the new Access Manager application for turning on multicast support for NDI. Do be aware that you need IGMP Snooping support on your network switch to take advantage of this feature.
Have fun!

Thank you for the update and letting us know V3.0 is public.
Again I would like to request that you add some form of version tracking on the installer as well as with in some of the programs like an about page or something.
Thank you for the great tools!

Yeah, the VLC plugin documentation references an installer, but it's just a file in a plugins folder that doesn't seem to work when put in the proper place.
Some actual version tracking and documentation would be great! I'm not even sure if this is considered "beta" or not.

It is not beta. I'm using NDI Tools 3.0 with the VLC plug-in. Not what issue you are running into. Did you select the NewTek NDI in the video and audio output settings? After you make these changes, you need to exit and restart VLC Player.
Also, you need to be running VLC 2.2.x for this plug-in, VLC 3.x isn't compatible.

Looks like you may also need to run VLC as Administrator, too.
Maybe.

Admin rights are not required to run the plug-in.

Hi,
Is there any documentation for Studio Monitor? Specifically to be able to start it from cmd line.
Thanks kindly

You can start it from command line. The default path to the application is.
C:\Program Files\NewTek\NewTek NDI Tools\Studio Monitor\Application.Network.VideoMonitor2.x64.exe

Kane,
Thanks, that much I got :) I'm looking for what parameters it takes. I'd like to be able to start it specifying a source to load, location to place the window on screen and other parameters such as enabling low bandwidth, disabling borders etc such that on a reboot I can programmatically (via a batch file/script) restart required instances without having to manually re-layout all the required instances of studio monitor.
Thanks kindly,
Blake

I'll add the Studio Monitor does remember the last settings you used, so if you set it up as needed then call it from command line it will come back up that way. I don't know how to do it, but it is possible to do the other things you are asking, but need to work with Professional Services group.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, it remembers the last session but when I have 4 sessions running it only remembers the last of the 4. How/where can I inquire further?
Thanks kindly,
Blake

Hi Zane,
Thank you. Sorry, missed this just now. I have no idea who our local NewTek dealer is. My involvement with NewTek thus far has been NDI development and interacting mostly directly with Andrew. Do you not just have some documentation with regards the use of Studio Monitor?
Kind regards,
Blake

What are the command line options for Studio Monitor? Is there a configuration file for startup with specific parameters?

Bumping this question, as I'm wondering the same. I'm aware that the upcoming 3.5 release may change things, but it would be good to see some info on this in future. Running studio monitor from the command line with "-help" or "/?" hasn't given me any clues!

You usually don't need command line arguments now. As before, each individual instance of SM you open retains its own config. One of the new settings menu options allows you to automatically run that instance Windows startup.
If you shift -double click the monitor it automatically adjusts its borders to fill the screen quadrant it is in, making it really easy to set up a quad view. It's cool to have virtual PTZ with Spark, and the Pip and Overlay options are great, but the real killer feature is the NDI kvm. It's a dream.

Thanks, Steve. This probably isn't a 'usually' case: We're looking at making a kind of source/layout selection front-end app, where you'd choose maybe between a quad split , full screen, or other layout. We'd want to launch multiple Studio Monitor instances to actually display the video., rather than reinvent that wheel.

What does the NDI kvm allow you to control? Does it allow you to control audio, ddrs, M/E's, etc.?

Everything... Just like a hardware kvm. You can hardly tell you aren't on the host TriCaster.

Is it designed to allow multiple people to work on the production (for example, doing the main mix at the Tricaster and doing an M/E mix in NDI KVM and maybe NDI KVM on another computer handling the DDR), or can you only control it from one place at a time? Is LivePanel better suited for something like that?

As with a real KVM, Windows effectively supports one mouse, one keyboard. Multiple people can control these from different locations, but it does require coordination to avoid conflict. LivePanel does not co-opt the mouse and keyboard.

We'd want to launch multiple Studio Monitor instances to actually display the video, rather than reinvent that wheel.I'm not sure what reinvention you have in mind, but here's an example layout I made using SM instances for the docs. This entire setup could easily launch automatically when Windows starts, but if you want to switch from one layout to another it will be a little more involved.
I'm not certain whether command line args are supported, but each instance has its config written in indexed JSON files. With a little front end code, prepared sets of these config files could be used to launch a multiview layout, or close it and launch another.

It sounds like some of the features of Tools 3.5 are being discussed here.
I've re-dowloaded the Tools Installers, but it looks like they're still version 3.0.
I should add, I'm on a Mac just now. Is 3.5 only currently available on Windows? Or not publicly available yet?
Thanks
