VERY kewl! i've been waiting for this for a while now, being an avid After Effects user (all of my post editing is done in AE). we can save our LightWave objects as OBJ then import into Particular 3 and use them as emitters ($149 upgrade for existing licenses; $399 full). perfect for motion graphics, which is a core offering from my studio. add to that a killer particle preset library and the ability to create unlimited custom presets, this is now one of the most powerful particle plugins on the market for video professionals. for my peeps here in the LW community who do a lot of AE post work, check it out. i've been using Particular for many years, and this new update is fckng AMAZING. just upgraded last night, and am looking forward to doing some wild OBJ particle FX. with P3, you can emit from object points, edges, polys or volume.

New Features in Particular 3 (http://www.redgiant.com/tutorial/trapcode-particular-3-new-features/)

i was just kicking with a brutha the other night talking over coffee about how LW was lacking in the motion graphics area in respect to AE integration (compared to C4D, which I regard as LW's closest competitor). OBJ support in Particular is a major bridge in creating kewl 3D object-based particle FX, and tightens the LW+After Effects pipeline.

Very Awesome!, Man... it looks like it has some great Mo-Graph presets, it is amazing what can be done in AE. That plus 3D element and LW would be a pretty complete package for mo-graph, heck, I'm not even sure you would even need to render w/LW, just modeler for obj assets or obj sequences. Love chill'n with coffee and good peeps! :beerchug:

absolutely, tony! yeah, i was so stoked to pop by red giant last night and saw the particular update reveal, especially since we were just talking about mograph & AE/LW. i dropped down the coin within seconds and had it loaded and open in AE immediately! haha. the presets are freaking slick, and now you can do multiple/nested emitters all at the same time for elegant FX, rich with depth and complexity. add on the OBJ import, and it makes for the best particle FX system i own. VERY happy camper here. :boogiedow

stardust is a cool plug, but i already have all of this in my trapcode suite. plus, with particular 3, you now have fully stacked & nested emitters, as well as the best preset library on the market and virtually unlimited capabilities for creating extremely complex particle systems. so particular just jumped ahead with the v3 release, and addressed the benefits that stardust had...until this week. hahaha. but on the price side, stardust is an affordable option to get cool 3D strokes like tao and mir (trapcode), for a lot less $. not sure they're as robust as trapcode's, but still impressive to be sure...

Unfortunately, as with most of the other RedGiant products, the compatibility is now only for the CC versions of AE.

that is correct. but the workflow in cc 2017 is far superior to its predecessors. i don't see why anyone would still be on the cs model. the entire core of adobe creative has changed, and much for the better. AE relies heavily on CUDA now. trapcode plugins have elegantly introduced complete cpu/gpu control with the v14 suite, allowing the user to select the method that creates the best performance. and, the entire engine of trapcode plugs has improved as well, with an interactive preview window much like LW's VPR, giving you real-time updates to your FX systems. i just bought the last remaining plugs i didn't have today, so now my suite is complete. the trapcode family makes for the best mograph tools out there!
