This is a fun commercial spot I did last December for one of our biggest local companies. The F.X. Matt Brewery is one of the oldest craft brewers in the US, and they were poised and ready to claim the distinction of their Utica Club offering being the first legal beer served anywhere in the US after the lifting of Prohibition. They've been one of my most loyal long-term local clients, and their marketing team has killer fun ideas. Every time they reach out to me I know I'll be in for a fun ride.

So, here a couple of associated spots I've done for them, all in LW.

This first is an animated tribute to their famous Utica Club commercials from the 1950s, featuring the original sound track sung by Jonathan Winters (who was a local hometown boy does good story):

And here's a piece I did for them for Christmas of 2016, showcasing some offerings from their Saranac brand:

https://youtu.be/xV78cihjYzc

Part of the value added for what I do is the voice acting and music, and this piece features both. In the end, though, it's LW that makes the magic come together.

Here's a short opening I worked on for an ABC show called "Time After Time". This is not the 'final' version, though, but this one had a font I liked a lot better than the one they finally chose.

Thanks, tischbein3. The final version had some imagery of London and NYC in the background along with a different font for the show. I think the show went for about five episodes before it was pulled.

Rendered out of LW with multiEXR and render buffers. Comped in after effects with a little bit of re-lighting/enhancements using the normals pass.

Nothing fancy like you pros do, but at least this image (plus text in the blank dark areas) was used as a 2 x 3 meter exhibition stand wall. All LW (plus a little denoise in Photoline).

Lightwave was used on many levels on this project. On page 11 in the PDF there is a few images from a training video for the ROV crew.

Very cool. The "Hollywood" stuff is only one small facet of the range of use cases where LW can shine, and your work is eloquent testament to that. Between my military stint and running my studio full time I was a "visualization engineer" for Northrop Grumman for nearly eight years. With a grad degree in computer science plus my graphics skill set we had a mutually beneficial run together. Nearly all of my work for them was in cyber-related visualization tech and done in classified labs, so I get not being able to show a lot of your work to others. Interesting stuff but I wanted to do my own thing. :beerchug:

Great stuff, and your font comment made me laugh. During one animated commercial project I recently delivered I submitted a full draft sequence using some creative typography for the titling and punch line. They kicked it back—hard. Seems there's a style guide for the company that declares Helvetica is the One Font to Rule Them All, and no other font need apply. I was permitted some license in color and the use of bold and italics, but no further afield than that. And I actually suck at typography theory so I was kinda proud of my initial foray.

Sometimes clients suck the fun right out of the room. ;D

Ha! I like to say that I don't have a font license! I, too, suck at typography. And yes, clients can suck the fun right out of the room, along with all the oxygen!

No Octane at all. It's all LW native renderer adjusted in Fusion.

This one is more a bad story. Here is my first (and last) archiz work.

I've done nine CGI scenes, two of them with camera tracking and composing into live shots. I did it for one small local studio. And they kill it with bad color correction and totally wrong skys they inserted there.

Project I worked with my brother on. He did all the photography, videography and editing. I did the various 3D bits, turntable, suspensions etc... and the main animation starting around the 5 minute mark.

Great stuff! I'm really digging seeing all the different genres and styles people are working in.

Don't have any good motion footage yet from this current project, but comical 'toon style' commercials are all the rage in this neck of the woods right now and I'm getting a fair flow of related work coming my way. Here's a quick screenie of the prep for the first scene, right before the a**hole boss strides in and ruins her day (to be followed, natch, by the trademarked character of the client's business swooping in to save the day). The piece will be done all in cel shade with edges mode on.

TV commercials are hella silly but sometimes fun to make, and can pay decently if you have good clients. :jam:

=)

Quite respectable. Flying logos, at least for me, are a cool fire-and-forget gig. Fast turnaround, the design work is mostly done, and clients love buying into animated marketing at a comparatively low rate. Plus, if they're really happy, there can be more work down the pike.

It's all good! :jam:

Yeah, that's hella cool (and fun to look at). I've printed a couple of my fantasy art pieces (all done in LW) and they tend to be well received at local art shows. Haven't seriously looked into selling any of them but it's an idea. For now I'm kind of possessive about them. ;D

Did this a while ago now, but don't often get work that I can share. My full-time job doesn't allow me to show any of my work, so only my freelance stuff is online.

This one was commissioned by eBuyer (a large PC, and general electrical item, website that has grown in popularity recently). This was used as an intro to an open day they held up north in the UK.

I've shared this before in the gallery, but if anyone hasn't seen it:

https://youtu.be/p_pu4_it-iU

They also used a load of other animations I created within a geo-location app they created for the day. Thankfully LW's Sprite Sheet output came in handy for that :)

I've been working on Dungeoneer for years and the end is near (depending on render times!!). PC game being released on Steam, it's classed as a "First-Person-Perspective Interactive cinematic story experience." I model, texture, animate, light, setup, render, day in and day out. My poor CPU is going to melt! LOL!! Really pleased with it, hoping it will be a success. Either way I class it as a good Lightwave story.

My latest coolest LightWave thing I did, I can't show publically at clients request.

But some stills from the animation are here:

http://www.studiowold.com/environments.html

http://www.studiowold.com/newsanchor.html

http://www.studiowold.com/asari.html

(background on this one was a painting of course. Just a character render test mostly)

A team effort with some people in my studio. Some of it my renders, some of it another artist I was training. And models are a combination of my work and other artists. As well as some stuff we refactored from a Turbo Squid space station model. But all rendered in LightWave.
