View Full Version : radiosity and negative lights

Have a scene that i let render it when i woke up it was going on 12 hours just for computing radosity - not even 1% !!.

THe only thing i noticed with my lighting setup is that it has negative lights in it.

So i deleted it and reduced some settings and now it's back to normalish speeds certainly not 12 hours.

does anyone know if negative lights are an issue with radiosity turned on?

lights were point lights with -35 set to suck the light out of some corners

have set lights to -100 or more with no noticeable affect on render times, but then again I suppose how many ,where they are and what they are doing is a big variable. I only had 1 bounce and 48 samples and just straight Monte Carlo

Have given ambient a negative value in the past to do pretty much the same thing with no noticeable hit on time
