Blender seems to be getting tons of interesting addons and plugins and I came across this one.

https://www.blendermarket.com/products/DECALmachine

It's a tool that uses cheats, basically. You have a mapped polygon which you place onto a base mesh then it conforms it that base mesh. It uses normal, parallax and other maps to fake the look of detail and depth. See the videos yourself and you'll get what I mean. It also has the ability to give you cut grooves into your base mesh by intersecting another mesh into it and generating skin-fitting mesh loops where the groove goes. It's sneaky and cool but the result is really convincing and renders nicely.

Why does Blender get these cool toys and LW is stuck in a limbo? Yeah, OK, there are the D-storm guys, 3rd Powers, and other plugin makers but this kind of tool feels fun and easy to use. The developers seem more devoting to making something kinda kick-*** than the LW hanger-ons.

Plus, LW REALLY needs to start using Parallax Maps. They really look awesome when the result is rendered.

Why does Newtek have a Blender thread???? Was I asleep for so long that things changed that much?

Rev. :stumped:

Edit: Oh, OK, it was a thread (IE post) and not a whole section regarding Blender. My mistake.
