anyone have a link to some good wood tutorials? I'm having fun experimenting, but would also like to step on the gas, and see the "right" way to do wood surfaces...to save time, and get excellent results.

thanks for any help!

well, I poked around the LW folders and didn't find any wood surfaces...I'd be grateful if you have anything you could send if that's possible.

Thank you!

it's: [email protected]

I thank you for taking time to pass anything along..I think I just need to see an example of how it's done so that I can build on that knowledge.

Go to DarkTree Symbiont for LW (http://www.darksim.com/html/simbiontlw.html) and download the Symbiont plugin for LW. It's free, and you can get several different excellent wood shaders as well as other materials too.
Here's a link showing samples of the types of wood shaders freely downloadable from their repository, Link to wood shaders for LW Symbiont (http://www.darksim.com/html/simbiontlw.html)

There are some amazing samples there, but are they intended for PC users?

Oops, I pasted in the wrong link. Here is the one to the Wood Shaders example page. (http://www.darksim.com/Repository/tx_Wood/)
And yes, it works on PCs. I don't think they have a MAC version yet.

you could check out the IFW shaders for lightwave They work on the mac and come with loads of presets and cost about $70. Also go to imageafter.com a site that has hi rez pics and textures and all free.
