Can anyone tell me why I am getting this wierd result with Surface Baker??

The following pic should explain...

On the upper left you can see a render that came from the same session as the radiosity surface bake (illumination only). The right pic shows the bake result as a UV map. The lower left pic shows the render result with the bake map applied.

As you can see, there is a bunch of light hitting the left side of the room on the bake map, while the render made at the same time as the baking does not show that extra light! Obviously i couldn't have changed any light settings, or the model, so what gives?

can anyone please help me with this? I've been banging my head against it all day...I can upload the file if you'd like. It's just a simple test.
