I got started in LW with v. 5.2. It seems like that was a different century ... oh yeah, it WAS! :D

So ... What YEAR was Lightwave3D v. 5.6 released? I'm doing some simplified silhouette animations with one of the content models from that release, and I want to correctly cite the year. :+)

Thanks to anyone who remembers that far back ...

I wanna guess 98 or 99. That was the version I was introduced to in college and then using at Foundation Imaging.

That is probably a pretty good guess ...

It "looks" like LW 6 was released in 1999, so maybe a year (or more?) earlier for 5.6?

(I've been Googling madly): http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/nab-audiences-to-get-sneak-peak-at-lightwave-3d-release-60-73997132.html -- April 13, 1999, announcing v. 6.0 ...

All my ancient 5.6 models were created in 1999 (as early as March 99) / early 2000, so you're probably right: 98 or 99.

Ahah! :+) I may have found it. I Googled "Lightwave 5.6 release" and got this:
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/newtek-announces-lightwave-3d-56-an-enhanced-upgrade-offered-free-to-registered-lightwave-3d-55-users-77313932.html

So it was 1998. Man, talk about time-travel! LOL

Thanks!
